I've got lots of really classic, really amazing, heavy-weight films in my DVD collection. Glad I have em, love em to death, barely watch them. Then along came this little beauty, filled with brilliant video work for artists like Bjork, Weezer, and Fatlip that I can watch on a continual loop for months. There's a lot of material, it's all certified dope, and deserves a spot on the varsity "next to the TV" DVD display in your house.
It's got a little b-side of interviews, short films and documentaries which go a step deeper than the videos themselves, if short and sweet isn't always your thing. These mini-features seem to tie together Spike's multiple director personalities, filling the void between his feature film work and his famously basic skate humor of Jackass.
The music videos showcase mind-blowing cinematography and fluid one-take sequences that have the ability to both move you and make you piss yourself laughing. And the sad and incredible "What's Up Fatlip?" video, I said it here, is the best rap video...ever. I watched it three times and then watched the documentary about it. And then I excused myself to the boy's room and rubbed one out. It's the greatest. Get the DVD, put in the archives, impress your friends, this is a good one.|W|P|106736562000983249|W|P|Spike Jonze | The Work of Director Spike Jonze|W|P|scottlmoe@gmail.com
