After a little Private Stock and some gin at my favorite local hangout, I went on my way to see Stereolab. My pre-gaming had cut into my assignment. I got a little lazy, started yappin' about snack foods and made it just in time to see the encore. "Way to go Daniel, good reviewer!" Well I don't get paid for this shit so you'll get what you'll get. What I got were five songs and they made me feel nice.
Futuristic and sweet, Stereolab hit off the spectators with bass-heavy melodies I might compare to exotic space chimes, with rhythm. (My judgement was in no way hampered by drugs; legal or illegal). Where would you stick these guys in the record collection? Definitely in the good section, maybe under downtempo, or if you've got an intro-spective, "chill" folder for your MP3s, throw it in there. If you're down with Morcheeba, DJ Kicks, or Portishead, this is for you. Good listening, made better live.|W|P|7037407|W|P|STEREOLAB | AVALON, BOSTON|W|P|scottlmoe@gmail.com
